WEIGHT LOSS, PACKING, WHAT TO WEAR FROM A LADIES PERSPECTIVE……

Now we are pretty close to leaving for vacation, just 2 more nights of sleep and we are on our way. So I pull out the suitcases and begin to think about what to pack for the trip. Why did I wait so long….. I know why.

THE WEIGHT ISSUES REARING ITS UGLY HEAD
What is it about a vacation and weight loss? All of a sudden weight is so important and we ladies seem to create a relationship between the “perfect” weight and being skinny with how much we will enjoy a vacation. For evidence of this behavior just go to the cruise message boards where one can find tons of threads on loosing weight for a cruise. Not that it is a bad thing to loose weight or get to your perfect size for your measurements but it is magnified and hooked up with anticipated vacation enjoyment. I am no exception to this weight thing. I have put on a good 10 pounds and right now carrying more weigh than I have in years. I lacked long term motivation to do anything about it so here I end up the week before vacation with clothes that are too tight, am forced to face the reality of my situation, I am unhappy.

Here is the thing, when a lady goes on vacation part of the fun is wearing cool clothes, outfits that in our normal day in day out we just don’t have the opportunity to wear. The wardrobe planning and shopping becomes part of the adventure. And then when on vacation, yes, it does make one feel great to wear the outfit’s that have been thought about and planned out in detail from head to toe….. When you put on that outfit, you know what I mean, the one that the material is so crisp because it has never been worn or seen the inside of a washing machine, feels so awesome…. It is your one shot at it because once worn that feeling is gone, will never happen again. So yes when one gains weight or is just not happy with the way they look it does most certainly take away some of the enjoyment.

So I figure what a perfect excuse to go shopping. I got past the” I am not wearing the size I want to” and resolved that this “thing” is not going to ruin my overall vacation enjoyment. At the last minute I purchase things in my new size that fit me well, let it go.. It really is not true that I “had” to go shopping, I do this ritual every single time I go on vacation. I can have all my outfits ready and then something compels me to the mall the last few days buying new stuff. I love to do this; my vacation would just not be complete without this pre vacation ritual…..

SO WHY CAN’T I FIND ANYONE TO TELL ME WHAT TO WEAR IN CANCUN???
This is ridiculous! Most of our vacations are cruise vacations and I know just what I want to wear. I know this either by past experience or if cruising a new line I can find tons of posters to tell me about how formal or informal a ship is. So then why is it so hard for someone, anyone to answer this very simple question for me? After scouring various forums on Cancan the answer is always the same “Wear whatever you want” Well if I knew what I wanted I would have not asked the question. What does one wear for dinner? Still shorts, sundresses… I love to dress up a bit, will I be out of place and packed the wrong things? Still all I get is “whatever you want”… Is there no one who wants to talk about this, what happened to all the fun of picking out things to where on vacation…. Does this “thing” only happen on cruise ships and not land vacation. Finally I am left to figure this out on my own, figure out my own whatever you want.

So for the daytime I pick shorts like these... I think I have five or six in various lengths.

Well I did have pictures of what to wear for the evening that I was going to post...Instead time got away from me.... Leave in the AM and tonight had a mini birthday party for my husbands birthsday... Awesome dinner, lots of wine and now have to go to bed to get up am (gasp)...4:00 AM, so this post will have to do for now.... I will certainly revisit this what to wear post as we spend our week in Cancun... Someone has to do it and no better a person than me....

I have read lots of blogs, really intense things, my blog is not that... It is just about me, silly day to day things that make me who I am

Until next time.

THE PLAN

After at least 5 years of using an American Express Starwood’s point’s credit card I finally have enough to do something with, so the search begins. After looking at all the places we could go we I pick Cancun. We have been to Mexico many times on a cruise port stop but never Cancun. The cruise ships just don’t stop there.

The rewards people are awesome and help me find the first hotel we will stay at; The Westin Le Meridian Spa and Resort. We have stayed at La Meridan hotels before and like them. My points don’t get me enough of a status for the Club floor, but my points does buy me four nights of a balcony room. Will see if the website picture is true to actual when we arrive.

Well after the flight cost why would one want to stay only 4 days…. I search some more and finally decide on a package with Expedia for our flight and 3 more nights at an all inclusive, La Blanc Spa and Resorts. This is where it gets very cool... WIth the money we saved on points we have enough to book the Goveners Suite at this resort... Thinking this is going to be incredible!!

THE PLAN....
So now it is 6 days before we leave, and I start to blog. You can see by our hotel choices that we want this vacation to be a bunch of nothing, no big party people here but instead just 8 days of relaxation..... giving me tons of time to mobile blog
from now until we come home. Will upload pictures from mobile, and probably a few Flip videos as well...If you have any questions, ask.... want to comment or say "hi" to me, please do. I am now offically excited about this trip.
